CARESHEET

TANK
A 5-gallon tank will suffice a juvenile frog, while a 10-20 gallon tank is adequate for adult Pacman’s.

SUBSTRATE
Juvenile Pacman's should have the bottom of their tank lined with paper towel, changed daily, while adult Pacman Frogs are best housed with Coconut Fiber or other similar substrates. After well moistened, enough substrate should be placed to allow your Pacman Frog to burrow itself so that its head will remain above ground. Substrate should be spot checked daily for waist and completely changed monthly.

WATER
A water dish should be placed in the tank, and cleaned after each use, or if not used, every few days. Use only spring water. If tap water must be used, treat with approved water conditioners.

PLANTS
To avoid stress, Pacman’s will hunt for a place underneath foliage to burrow itself. If you desire the maintenance of live plants, be sure that they are not toxic to your Pacman. However, feel no shame in placing plastic Aquatic Plants.

LIGHTING
12 hours of Daylight, and 12 hours of Night is recommended by most for your Pacman Frogs. The best method of achieving this is with a combo lighting fixture. Combo lighting fixtures allow you to maintain proper day/night cycles and temperature. Some lighting fixtures come with built-in timers; you can also purchase a power strip with a digital timer.

TEMPERATURE
The temperature inside the enclosure should be kept between 78°F (26°C) - 82°F (28°C) daily, while dropping to the low 70's a night. If you live in a colder environment, a combo lighting fixture will allow you to supplement day or nighttime heat.

HUMIDITY
Humidity can be kept at 50-70%. Either spraying the cage daily or purchasing an automated mister can help you achieve this.

DIET
A diet that consists of soft-bodied invertebrates is the preferred method. Crickets, earth worms, silk worms, meal worms, and occasionally wax worms. Juveniles can be fed anywhere from 3-5 times a day. Adults can be fed less frequently with the introduction of a small mouse or a feeder fish once a month. Calcium supplements are required as they are lacking in their non native habitat.

HANDELING
Pacman Frogs should be handled as minimally as possible. If you must handle your Pacman, be sure to reach from behind as your fingers will be required for other daily chores. Handle your Pacman firmly, yet safely, by gripping the underside with your thumb, and the Pacman’s back with your index finger. You can use your other hand to support, while of course avoiding your Pacman’s mouth. It is important that you wash your hands both before and after each handling. Like other frogs, Pacman Frogs ingest water through their skin. Any chemicals on your hands will soak through your Pacman and could cause harm. To avoid any infections on your end, wash your hands thoroughly after each handling.
